Wedding to-do checklistOkay, we’re down to the last couple weeks! Yay! Use these handy lists to make sure you’ve got your bases covered.

FYI: Just about everything on this list can be delegated to someone else. Now is the time to start getting rid of your own to-dos so you can de-stress and focus on enjoying your wedding.

Make to-do lists for all of your wedding day helpers/vendors. The idea is to clear your plate so that you can enjoy the time leading up to the big day. Here’s how to make sure you don’t forget a thing:

  1. Get one sheet of paper per helper (or use your computer). Carry them with you so you can write new to-dos down as you think of them.
  2. Start writing down the to-dos you can think of. If you aren’t sure who should do a certain task, create a separate list called “To-Dos to Be Delegated.”
  3. For to-dos that involve multiple people, write them on all applicable lists. For example, if your aunt and sister are meeting up to decorate the church, put it on both lists and make sure the times, etc. are all the same.
  4. Include contact info for any applicable items. For example, if your brother is meeting the caterer, ensure he has their contact name and number AND that the caterer has your brother’s digits, as well.
  5. Aim to give these lists out 7 to 2 days before the wedding. That should also (mostly) mark the end of your own to-dos, minus essentials like mani/pedis, etc.

Confirm times, dates, and locations with all vendors (e.g. photographer, videographer, officiant, florist, musicians, DJ, caterer, baker, hair stylist, makeup artist, limo, etc.).

Confirm your wedding night and honeymoon plans, including hotel and travel reservations, special packages, requested, prices, and payment methods. If possible, pay in advance so you don’t have to worry about it later. Print out your confirmations.

Touch base with guests who haven’t yet RSVPed for your wedding, rehearsal dinner, day-after event, etc. Now is the time to be getting your final headcounts to the necessary vendors.

Figure out final headcounts. Your caterer will need to know, of course, but also consider others, like the people setting up chairs for the ceremony, your brother who’s picking up the sodas and cookies for your post-wedding picnic in the park, etc.

Finalize any seating charts for both ceremony and reception. Let your ushers know whom you want seated in the VIP seats at your ceremony.

Finish up your escort and/or place cards.

Work on your wedding toast with your hubby-to-be. It doesn’t have to be super long; a simple thank-you to your guests, bridal party, and parents will suffice.

Add items from any website on the internet onto one universal gift registry

Pack for your wedding night. Give the bag to someone who can either get it to the reception or have it delivered to the hotel. Add this task to his or her to-do list. Don’t forget to pack slinky lingerie and perhaps a bottle of champagne! You should also pack any reservation confirmations you’ve printed out. Tip: Buy an extra toothbrush to pack so that you don’t have to think about packing your normal toothbrush on the morning of your wedding day.

Pack for your honeymoon. It might be early, but the more you can get down for your honeymoon before the wedding, the less you’ll have to worry about. Don’t forget your passport, confirmations, tickets, and camera. Make a shopping list as you go for anything you don’t have yet.

Get tips and final payments together. Put them in labeled envelopes and give them to whoever should pass them out during the wedding (your MC, perhaps?). Be sure to add this task to that person’s to-do list. If you want to give any vendors a thank-you card, slip it into their envelope along with the money.

Print out maps for any guests who may need them. You’ll need maps to get from the hotel(s) to the ceremony, from the ceremony to the reception, from the reception back to the hotel(s), as well as to any other events, such as your rehearsal dinner or gift-opening.

Put together a wedding day survival kit. Include band-aids, pain killers, a sewing kit, safety pins, clear nail polish, tissues, hair pins, hair spray, and anything else you think you might need. Give the kit to a bridesmaid so she can bring it to the ceremony and reception, and don’t forget to add it to her to-do list.

Enjoy your get-together with your bridesmaids, if you’re having one.
